Trey Hill Photographs

the shoe from Peru

Posted in 15x100, personal by Trey on July 26, 2008

as i’ve written about in the past, i’m part of a new photography collective called 15×100. one of our first projects is to photograph an abandoned shoe that originated in Lima, Peru. it came to me by way of Argentina and after doing a tour of the States, the shoe will head to Europe (and Asia, i think).

i’m looking forward to photographing the shoe, but not to unwraping that beautiful little package.

Did you shoot this image of the package? I agree that it almost shouldn’t be opened…

stephen, thanks. i started to unwrap it last night & Adriana had somehow preserved the original packaging that came to her… so it’s a package inside a package. i decided i had to photograph that.

Sunday is the big day, though. i’m getting up nice & early to do my shoot.

John, yes i did. last night after seeing Wanted i solicited my friend Lan’s help & we shot it in his dining room.

Welcome & I have no idea when the shoe makes it to the great white north.

So it got here on Friday night….to Barcelona that is. I haven’t seen Mario since it arrived as it has indeed captured his heart. That little shiny wobbly shoe from Peru, yet he’s all over us with it and the rest of the city…I think it has connected him (us) with a side of Barcelona we never knew existed before. It has broken down walls and opened doors…bent hearts and filled minds with it’s history….the democracy of how it’s journies down a river have now led it here to us…it started around the same time we got here in 1998 and changed our lives forever. So 15×100, There’s a mighty storm coming…a mighty storm of fotos from Mario in the Mediterranean and I hope you’re all prepared…I say no more…

Abrazos from Mario’s wife and children in Barcelona
