it’s a small internet-world after all

i used to sell MINI’s and had the great pleasure of meeting really interesting people every day. on one such occasion, a DMN turned L.A. Times photojournalist, Damon Winter, happened into the dealership with a friend of his.

there was an article about him in Communication Arts at the time and i was just beginning to think my photography could actually earn me money (i’m not sure if the Relevant cover had happened yet or not), so getting to have a conversation with him was a pretty big deal for me.

one freaking great night

a couple weeks ago, i had the great pleasure of producing the Dallas Stars Season Seat Holder event. twelve photographers, at 12 photo stations all around the American Airlines Center. now that everything has been delivered and the website i built is running smoothly, i thought i’d take a minute to share some of my favorite moments and images from the night.

not only was it awesome for me to work with the greatest team in hockey (although struggling to show that greatness at the moment), it brought me almost tear inducing joy to watch Brendan as he stood next to Turco, chatted with Modano & Lehtinen and high fived Morrow. it was the kind of good that you have to use tonal languages to express.

if you’ve been trying to make the proofing site for the Dallas Stars season seat holder event work for the last hour and were scratching your head as to what was wrong… well, you weren’t alone. the non-functioning links were really baffling me. turns out, there was an html oddity that took some serious digging to sleuth out. but, it appears all is now well and things are working fine.

came across this tonight as i was wrapping up a really great graduation portrait session from a few weeks ago. this is up in McKinney at Erwin Park after the cross country meet; there’s something about the mood of this image that sucks me in and won’t let me leave.

hockey season

i am a hockey fan; anyone who knows me can attest to that. so, when i got a call a couple of weeks ago from the Dallas Stars about an event they had coming up, i got very excited.

with the hockey season already underway (the NHL started earlier this week with a couple games in Europe) and my beloved Dallas Stars opening their season tomorrow, the team wanted to thank the season ticket holders. every year they do an event and this year’s was held at the American Airlines Center.
